Private Lessons

We specialize in one-on-one private lessons for students of all ages, levels, styles, and instruments...but there is so much more!

Weekly music lessons with our staff of professional musicians and music instructors are at the heart of the PSSM student experience. Students enjoy learning a variety of instruments from professional instructors who are talented and degree-certified. Lessons and the student-teacher relationship are the foundations of our success.

But we also put on and participate in recitals, festivals, local community performances, and many other events throughout the year. Last year alone, PSSM students performed at Philips Arena, Turner Field, Red Clay Theater, Famous Pub, Pure Woodstock, Roswell Arts and Crafts festival, City of Alpharetta Christmas events, Milton Roundup, Menchie's, Scoops, Cans Taqueria, Belly's Pizza and other venues across the Atlanta metro area. Many of these performance opportunities are at no additional charge to students, and participants in live events are accompanied and managed by PSSM staff.

Additionally, 2012 saw PSSM open Lucky Dog Studios in Alpharetta. Lucky Dog is a full service professional recording studio featuring state of the art equipment and experienced sound engineering staff where students (or anyone else) can not only make their dreams come true by recording music, but also learn about modern studio and DIY recording and production processes. Students from PSSM performed on the studio's first album, A Very Lucky Christmas (available on iTunes), and will have the chance to perform on future album projects at the studio...in addition to creating their own independent projects, too.

Students have the option to take lessons from one of our three conveniently located studios.

All of our instructors are classically trained musicians. Some specialize in different styles such as jazz, blues, contemporary, gospel, and other musical genres. All instructors have techincal and practicval musical experience that will help students set and achive even the most ambitious goals and dreams.

Private lessons move at the pace of the student. The teacher-student ratio in a private class is 1 to 1 versus 20:1 or even 60:1 in some schools. This ensures that students in private lessons speed through material that is easy for them and slow down and workout the more difficult material. We can safely say that each lesson is custom tailored to fit the needs of the students, whether they are looking to audition for a play, get a college scholarship, find their way to a recording contract, or just want to learn how to play better.

Private lessons range from 30minute lessons once a week, to 45minute and 60minute lessons once a week. We also offer 60minute lessons every other week (or twice a month) for those students with busier schedules. We have over 35 instructors teaching almost every instrument you could want to play, contact us to book your schedule today!

Instruction/Fees for Private Instruction:

Monthly tuition is $125 for a standard session of 30 minutes weekly or 60 minutes every other week ($187.5 monthly tuition for a standard session 45 minutes weekly, $250 monthly tuition for a standard session of 60 minutes weekly.)

We do require a monthly notice in writing for discontinuation or suspension of lessons which is standard in this business. There is a one time registration fee of $50 for each family (no charge for siblings, parents or returning students). Many activities are included at no additional charge: recitals every three months, open mic events, master classes, and other community performance opportunities. We also hold an annual student assessment where students can earn a trophy for superior rated performances. We are also members of the Piano Guild, National Federation of Music Clubs, and NATS - National Association of Teachers of Singing, if you are interested in participating in those programs.

If you need to cancel a session and want a makeup, we require one week's notice and the makeup is good for three months (you simply sign up for a makeup with the teacher.) Makeup sessions are not honored if a student quits. If needed, we offer our recording studio to our students and teachers at a reasonable price. We have a high success rate in the achievements of our students and look forward to working with students who have a desire to learn.
