PSSM STUDENT TYNA Q GETS AWARD FROM GEORGIA MUSIC HALL OF FAME

The Peggy Still School of Music is proud of all of its students and their accomplishments. Today, we are promoting one student in particular, Tyna Q.

Tyna Q has been honored by the Georgia Music Hall of Fame/Friends of Georgia Music Festival, Inc and awarded the distinguished Horizon Award.

The Horizon Award is given annually to one “Up and Coming” performing artist or songwriter, either individual or group with significant ties to the State of Georgia and who is expected to make a significant future contribution to the world of music.

Tyna Q will perform in the 32nd Annual Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards show on September 11th, 2010 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre (a premier performing arts venue located in Atlanta.)

Past Hall of Fame inductees and performers include Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Ludacris, to name just a few. This year, some of the inductees and performers include: Styx, The Black Crowes, India. Arie, Jennifer Larmore, and Paul Davis.

Who Is Tyna Q?

Tyna Q is a remarkable Spanglish Teen Pop Singer/Songwriter from Alpharetta, Georgia.

At just sixteen years old, Tyna Q has created a certified buzz in the music industry with thousands of fans throughout the country, as well as within the Hispanic Arena.

Tyna Q's unique talent blends a combination of Rock, Pop, R&B, Soul, and that of dance styles. Growing up in a Multi-Cultural family has proved to be instrumental in allowing her to musically express her roots in Hispanic and American Cultures.

Tyna Q has been influenced by and compared to the likes of Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and the late, great Selena Quintanilla. She is poised to take her place alongside them...

At only sixteen years old, this ingénue has become quite a seasoned performer. She maintains a rigorous schedule and has performed in over 600 shows the past four years.

At the tender age of twelve, Tyna Q landed her very first live performance onstage for the prestigious Atlanta’s Expo for Tavis Smiley’s BET Event.

From then on she has been in high demand, performing at Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta, Hispanic Television Station Telemundo, Atlanta Hip-Hip Film Festival, Teen Choice Awards, San Francisco Piensa Mas Alla, NCLR (National Council of La Raza in San Diego, Chicago, San Antonio,) Headliner at Six Flags Over Georgia, “We Are The World” (The Next Generation) in Hollywood, and has sung the National Anthem at the Georgia Dome for the Atlanta Falcons.

She has been interviewed on radio stations throughout the country (Georgia, New Jersey, California, and Texas.)

Tyna Q has been featured in many magazines and newspapers, (Largest Hispanic newspaper distributor in Atlanta) Mundo Hispanico, Atlanta Sir Magazine, New York Urban Latino Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, and New York La Voz Newspaper.)

Tyna Q will be featured in Urban Lux Magazine’s August 2010 issue.
